Nineteenth-century glory

The centrepiece in the Burgomasters’ Council Room is an enormous chandelier, the largest in the palace in terms of weight, height and diameter. This colossal cast brass chandelier weights 710 kilos, is over tree metres high and has a diameter of two and a half metres. The chandelier was banished to storage attics and ‘found’ during the recent restoration.
