At the invitation of His Majesty the King, the President of the Republic of France, Emmanuel Macron, will pay a state visit to the Netherlands on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 April 2023. He is accompanied by his wife Brigitte Macron.
A state visit takes place when the King invites a foreign head of state to visit the Netherlands. This visit follows a fixed programme. On the first day, the visiting head of state inspects the military honour guard on Dam Square, accompanied by the King, and lays a wreath by the National Monument. In the evening, there is a state banquet – a dinner in full gala dress – in the Citizen’s Hall of the Palace.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima officially welcomed President Macri and his wife on Dam Square in Amsterdam. After the inspection of the guard of honour, a reception took place in the Royal Palace in Amsterdam with Dutch authorities and Argentinian dignitaries taking part in the visit. After the reception President Macri laid a wreath at the National Monument on Dam Square.
