In the middle of the capital stands the Royal Palace Amsterdam, one of the residencies of King Willem-Alexander. The Palace plays a major role during state visits and other royal occassions, it is a building where history is written. In addition, the Palace is open to visitors as much as possible.
The Palace is the largest and most prestigious building from the Golden Age. It was originally built, not as a palace, bus as Amsterdam's town hall. It reflects the power and wealth of the city in the 17th century.
