Summer Exhibitions 2026
From 26 June to 27 September, visitors to the Palace can view the following summer exhibitions:

Collection exhibition:
The Netherlands and Japan: Links through Time (26 June - 27 September)
To mark the State Visit of the Emperor of Japan to the Netherlands, an exhibition featuring imperial gifts and other Japanese masterpieces from the Royal Collections will be on display in the Palace’s Throne Room. On display are, amongst other things, a seventeenth-century Japanese lacquerware cabinet, folding screens, scroll paintings, exquisite lacquerware boxes, ceremonial swords, vases and imperial honours. The exhibition highlights the shared history of Japan and the Netherlands. Following the state visit, the exhibition will also be open to visitors to the Royal Palace this summer.
Pop-up:
Wybrand de Geest 2026 (26 June - 27 September)
The Royal Collections recently loaned three paintings to the Fries Museum for the exhibition ‘Wybrand de Geest: Masterful Portraits’ (2025). To celebrate their return, the works will be on display this summer in the Gallery of the Royal Palace in Amsterdam. They will then return to their permanent locations: the ‘Little Elisabeth’ to the Grand Mistress’s Room in the Royal Palace, and the portraits of her parents to the Old Council Chamber.
